CE marking: Products bearing the CE mark can circulate freely within the EU

The CE mark is not just a symbol – it is a legal declaration that a product complies with EU legislation. Check if it applies to your product and how to label it correctly.

Products with the CE marking can be sold throughout the European Union without restrictions, provided they comply with all relevant EU legislation. The CE mark demonstrates that a product has undergone a conformity assessment and meets EU requirements for safety, health, environmental protection, and other key standards.

Not all products require CE marking. It only applies to those covered by specific harmonised EU legislation (e.g., electrical devices, toys, machinery, medical devices). If your product falls under these categories, you must ensure a proper conformity assessment, prepare the technical documentation, and issue a declaration of conformity.

The CE marking must be visible, legible, and indelible. It must be affixed directly to the product, its nameplate, or packaging before the product is placed on the market. Manufacturers or importers bear full responsibility for ensuring the product meets all applicable legal requirements.

If you are unsure whether your product requires CE marking or how it should be classified under EU law, contact us — we will gladly check whether CE compliance is mandatory for your product.
